Take a moment to get into a comfortable position…let yourself relax and feel yourself supported by the chair…let’s take a deep breath together…now take another deep breath and feel your abdomen expand as you gently exhale. Allow your eyes to become heavy and close.
For the next few while I’d like you to listen to the sound of my voice…and as you listen…you may want to let your body begin to slow itself down…nice and easy…let all the stress and the strain of the day fade away.
You are beginning to relax…to let go…and slow down. Let go of your body tension…feeling relaxed…let go of your body tension right now…as you listen with your mind.
A flow of relaxation makes it way down from the top of your head…all the way down to the tips of your toes. You begin to relax…to feel your muscles letting go…they seem to just melt.
Your breathing is natural and effortless…you are beginning to slow down and to relax. Let all the negative feelings fade away…let the world fade away.
It feels good having relaxation move through your body…a wave of relaxation…and it begins at the very top of your head. You allow your scalp to relax…and the relaxation flows downward across your forehead…through your eyebrows and eyes…down to your cheeks and nose…and across your mouth. You even let your jaw relax a little bit as you unclench your teeth.
You are practicing letting go of your body tension…it helps you to open your mind to your inner feelings and your inner thoughts. As you listen even more…let the relaxation flow…just imagine more and more relaxation flow gently downward from your face into your neck…and let go…and relax.
It’s a slowing down that flows deep within you…just imagine this flow of relaxation spreading out across your shoulders…and down through your arms. Relaxation flows through your upper arms…through your lower arms…and moves down into your hands, your fingers and your fingertips.
Imagine all the tight, tense feelings from your upper body are melting right out the tips of your fingers…your upper body is letting go as you let the relaxation flow deeper and downward. All tensions and all negative feelings fad away…and you relax even more through your chest and upper back…and now down your stomach.
You may even imagine that each time you take a breath in, you breathe in even more relaxation. And each time you breathe out, you let go of all tension. Just let all the negative feelings fade away…as you continue to unwind and relax.
Imagine this wave of relaxation moving gently down into your lower back…now down into your hips…your thighs…which just seem to melt…and you let it happen…you feel the tension leaving your body. You feel heavy and relaxed.
Your eyes are closed, but your inner mind is open…you are listening to all the suggestions, all the thoughts, and all the ideas that are going to help you reach your goal.
