Chakra Six – Power of Insight
The Sixth Chakra is associated with the third eye and the Hypothalamus Pituitary nerve plexus which governs the autonomic nervous system and the pituitary in the endocrine system. The information contained in the sixth chakra relates to insight, clear seeing, clairvoyance, intuition, self-evaluation, intellect, and wisdom.
Signs of Deficiency in the Sixth Chakra
- Being insensitive to situations and others
- Poor vision, not able to see the future or image alternatives
- Difficulty visualizing
- Lack of imagination
- Poor memory
- Denial(unable to see what is happening)
- Rigid thinking, one way is the only way
- Inability to remember dreams
Signs of Excess in the Sixth Chakra
- Difficulty concentrating
The imbalance of the subtle energy around the body shows up in the chakras. Remember they are like computers that receive and analyze all the information that comes in. This imbalance affects us emotionally and ultimately affects the physical health of the body.
Emotional issues related to the Sixth chakra
- Inability to or resistance to self evaluate
- Difficulty with intellectual ability
- Feelings of inadequacy
- Close minded
- Doesn’t learn from their mistakes
- Incongruence between mental and emotional self-narratives
Health issues that may arise from Sixth chakra imbalances
- Brain tumors, hemorrhage
- Neurological disturbances
- Blindness and deafness
- Full spinal difficulties
- Learning disabilities
Here are some tools that bring self reflection and balance to the body.
Sit and image a grounding cord going down from the base of your spine into the center of the earth. This grounding cord can be like a waterfall, a tree trunk or a beam of light. Sense the grounding cord going down all the way through the earth to the fiery center of Mother Earth. Release Energy down your grounding cord starting at the top of your head, down your neck and the channels on either side of your spine, all the way down your grounding cord to the center of the Earth. Take a deep breath and continue to release energy keeping this grounding cord attached near the base of your spine and the center of the earth. With practice you will begin to stay grounded. Begin a dream journal and be open to your dreams being a way in which your Higher Self is connecting with you. There are several books on dream process. The one that I use is Realities of the Dreaming Mind by Sivanan Swami Radha. You may also find a local dream group which really helps since healing in this chakra has to do with opening the mind and being open to how other’s see us and our patterns. The feedback from others in a dream group can assist with this.
Begin to notice when you become defensive and write out the situation in your journal. You may begin to see a pattern here. When you are defensive, ask yourself, what am I defending? What am I afraid to see? What change may I have to make if I see this or believe this about myself? Ask a trusted friend to help you to see blocks that may be in the way of your seeing clearly. At an Angel Therapy Workshop I attended when sharing readings with a partner, I realized it was the question I was afraid to ask Archangel Michael that was the most powerful!
Learn detachment. This is often a difficult challenge, but extremely rewarding. Practice observing situations as if they were on a movie screen. Don’t push the image away or pull it toward you. Resist the urge to give advice or to fix or rescue. Watch situations play themselves out as you breathe and stay relaxed. Notice how easy your life becomes when detachment replaces reaction.
Hypnotherapy and visualization are extremely helpful to this chakra. My Chakra Clearing CD teaches visualization in the second track as you clear your chakras. You may also want to find a local hypnotherapist to guide you deeper into your imagination. There are many CDs as well that lead you in guided imagery. Explore your inner world through visualization in one of these ways.
Poor memory is a sixth chakra issue. You may want to find a simple book on memory that will help you to use word substitution and linking or other association methods for improving memory. One reason may people do not remember is they are not in present time. Practicing being in your body and in present time can improve your memory substantially. Be present, breath and be aware of what is happening within your body and around you at all times.
