The Ugly Duckling in the Modern World!

August 20, 2018 by @candesscampbell

“A Belief is just a thought you think over and over again.”

– Abraham-Hicks

The original post was in 2014 and I see that the meaning takes on new life with the political climate at this time and the major planetary changes and clearing that many of us are doing at this time. I’ve made a few changes in the content. Feeling angry, hurt, achy, tired, reactive and having a difficult time adjusting?

You are not alone!

In November 1843, the Hans Christian Andersen’s story, The Ugly Duckling was published in Copenhagen, Denmark. This amazing fairy tale has been read and re-read by adults and children alike, all over the world.

The story, as you probably know, is about a mother duck in a flock of other ducklings. The bird was teased and bullied unmercifully throughout his life, because he looked different and behaved differently. As an adult, the bird sought out and joined a flock of swans finding them to be beautiful birds. Although he expected the same abuse, the swans were open to his joining with them and they accept him. One day this ugly duck saw his reflection in the water and realized he was not an ugly duck at all, but really was a beautiful swan. He found his flock and fit right in. He was transformed.

Common to all of us is the desire to be heard, seen and understood. Many of us can relate to this archetypal story of not fitting in and finding ourselves teased, attacked or excluded.  We continued to look for and hoped to find “our people”, our flock or our tribe. In the journey of doing so, we often changed our opinions or beliefs. Sometimes we gave up our voice and became silent, all in an attempt to fit in.

So often I hear someone telling another person what “the truth” is and insist on what they “should” be doing or thinking. Communication becomes about what is right or wrong. Opinions become polarized and those who do not agree with either the loudest voice or the group voice can be intimidated, shamed or alienated.

Over the years, the precious beliefs developed as young people get lost in the mass of voices and one’s self-esteem takes a hit. So often when working with clients, the undercurrent of their situation is a feeling of being unworthy or undeserving. How others have treated them guides their beliefs about themselves.

What would happen if, instead of stating your opinion and telling someone what you think, you asked the person to explain more about what they were saying? Wouldn’t it be interesting to see how your relationships change if you went into conversations with the sole purpose of understanding their point of view. How would your posture change if you were there just to receive, to just hear the story?

Now, there will be times to share your opinion and have debates of course, and to enjoy the fun and creativity of a dispute, but let’s change it up a bit. Think about a few people in your life that are important to you. Make a conscious choice to have a couple conversations with them where you just “hold the space” for their musings, for their sharing, for how they see the world. Experience them deeply. Look into their eyes and be present to them. Give them the gift of being heard, seen, and understood. Bring them into your fold and see them as the swan they truly are. Allow your loved ones to be transformed by the incredible generosity of your listening.

Clear Clutter Within and Without!

July 3, 2017 by @candesscampbell

Clearing areas of your home and and clearing your over-stimulated mind is helpful to release negativity and create a space for Love and Light. Soul Stems for today’s practice are . . .

1. The clutter I hang on to is . . .
2. The person I will forgive today is . . .
3. Today, I give myself permission to . . .

Feel free to journal and share!

Matching the Energy of Others

October 27, 2016 by @candesscampbell

In a Meditation class I took at the Church of the Divine Man many years ago, I learned about “matching” other people’s energy. For instance, if you are around someone who is angry, you may match him and become angry. When you are matching someone who is peaceful, you feel peaceful. Its important to be aware of others you spend time with and discern whether or not the feelings you have are yours or theirs.

A study I read (cannot find source) involved the growth of three plants. One plant was the control and the plant was watered without any variables. The second plant was watered with water where someone who was very happy and positive held the water for a period of time and the third plant was watered with water that was held for a period of time by someone who was clinically depressed. Of course, the result was the plant watered by the person who was happy grew the most; the control the second and the plant watered by the person who was depressed had stunted growth.

Physics has taught us that everything is energy and it makes sense we affect each other in subtle and powerful ways.  When I feel blue, a little grumpy, I will listen to Abraham-Hicks on YouTube to shift my energy and raise my mood. Conversely, when I binge on sad music that I listened to as a young person such as Johnny Cash singing Sunday Morning Coming Down, I have to pick myself up off the floor!

My focus in my work for years has been to empower others to access their intuition and live at their highest vibration.

Who helps you become your better Self? Who leads the way and makes it easier for you to excel and manifest your dreams? Think about who it is that drains your energy and leaves you feeling bad about yourself. Sometimes we can’t change who we are around, but we can use those who are motivating and inspiring to bring us back into balance. Being in nature is another way to shift your energy into a higher vibration and release the negativity.

Careful Whose Energy you Match!

Today take some time to think about who energizes you.

How Can I Love More and Care Less?

October 12, 2015 by @candesscampbell

Sometimes your intuition is clear and you choose not to follow it. You may meet someone and find yourself attracted to them, but your gut clearly says no! Your head reminds you of past relationships where your feelings were similar and you jumped anyway only to be hurt.

We all want to have happy, loving relationships and creating and sustaining them is difficult.

There is the Law of Attraction.

Is there a Law of Detachment?

Here is what Abraham-Hicks has to say about Love!

Claircognizance is “Clear Knowing”

October 7, 2015 by @candesscampbell

When you are in the process of developing your intuition, you can become aware of your Claircognizance.  This is when you just know something!  This information may be coming from your Higher Self or you may be tapping into the Collective Unconscious. Rather than Higher Self, Abraham-Hicks uses the concept Vibrational Representation of Yourself. Given that my work is all about Energy, I love it!

Over the years I have noticed that one difference between someone such as myself who works as a clairvoyant, and others, is, I listen to this voice. Be careful not to “intellectually over-ride” the information you get. If you are not sure, give yourself some time and use your other intuitive senses as well.

Many people who have this type of clairvoyance doubt the information they get because they think everybody gets this information.  Begin to write down the information and practice listening to what you know.

Examples of this are listed below.

  • You meet someone and already know details about them.
  • You have information about a current event that you didn’t read or hear about.
  • You had an idea for a business plan or a book and didn’t follow up on it and someone else created the plan and became successful.
  • You lose your keys and can close your eyes and see where they are.
  • One that happens for me is when I watch detective shows or read mystery novels, I usually quickly know “who did it.”

In your journal list what you know to be true without external information. Begin to listen to your inner thoughts. Make notes of the information you get during meditation. Also, watch when you doubt yourself and note when you find that you were right.
