Chakra Two and Control – Do the Work!

May 16, 2018 by @candesscampbell

This morning in my morning walk I was listening to Caroline Myss’s Energy Anatomy on iTunes. In other writings she refers to the second chakra as the chakra of relationship.

Your second chakra is the sacral chakra associated with sensual movement and with sexuality. The information contained in the second chakra relates to relationship, emotions, intimacy, sexuality, creativity, work and money.

In the audio Myss introduced the second chakra as being about Control. That got my attention. So many of the client issues that come up in my private practice are issues that are housed in the Second Chakra.

Recently I have had some conversations with friends regarding self-reflection and “Doing the Work.” At dinner the other night a friend said, “Maybe they don’t know how do to the work.” This surprised me, but I think he is right. Another friend said that she will answer calls from friends who are in crisis if they also have a counselor and/or health providers who they are working with to heal. This was helpful for me. I realized, although this is oversimplified, people either are in a process of Doing the Work, or they end up in crisis over and over again and reach out in crisis. Once they are over the situation, they go on with their lives until the next crisis. This is exhausting for family, friends and even counselors!

[click_to_tweet tweet=”What it means to Do the Work can be different for different people. ” quote=”What it means to Do the Work can be different for different people. “]

First identify your need for help. Often this shows up when you find you are angry, hurt, or irritated by someone else. It can also be from something that happened in the past that you continue to replay in your mind or feelings. Frustrated you can’t get someone to do something? Focus on yourself!

Here are some ways to Do the Work!

  • Attend regular counseling sessions
  • Meditate with a teacher or group where you are guided to develop
  • Be in a self-help or 12 step group focusing upon your growth
  • Have a regular journal practice where you use a book that guides you in a process of healing

When you Do the Work you

  • Process and heal your feelings
  • Organize your life so you function easily
  • Gain insight
  • Learn tools to help with difficult situation

When I was listening to her audio this morning, I was inspired by Caroline Myss’s information on the Second Chakra. Below are her words and her work!

The second chakra contains

your relationship to Power on the one on one level.

 Your need to control others.

Your need to control events.

Your need to control period.

You fill in the blank.

It’s your need to control other people, the way things happen, the way people believe.

Now I want you to imagine somebody in your life. Just one person. How many of you can think of one person that you are vitally invested in controlling. Now I want you to imagine why are you so interested in controlling that person. What kind of answer would you give. “Well, that person needs me.” But the truth is what you really are doing is you want to keep that person weak so they need you. You want to keep them weak and damaged and wounded, so they need you. And, that is going to cost you. That will cost you your Spirit.

Now, I’m going to speak Angel to you. This is Angel 101. I’m going to say, what are you doing and you are going to say, “I am investing part of my circuitry with the command, to control that person. I want to influence that person’s thinking process. I want to keep me a vital part of that person’s thinking process. That will cost you a great deal of your energy every day and in every way, you are transmitting a part of your Spirit on mission to infiltrate that person’s energy and likewise I presume there are people equally invested in controlling you. So you are the recipient of energetic information.

I want you to imagine that your body operates; this system operates the way email does. There is no difference. Every time you have a thought about someone you put it in their email box. Email for Energy Mail. This is good. I like this. It’s literally energetic mail. That is exactly what you are doing. I am convinced that the whole form of the tribal creation of these computer databases, all of that is a complete physical metaphor and creation of what I am talking about in terms of the way we work energetically. We have duplicated ourselves in the computer form. So now we need to learn to play by energetic rules.

What I am telling you about is your second chakra connects you to everybody and everything you want to control. How many of you have ever even paid attention to what you want to control or how much you invest in what you want to control. You haven’t even got a clue.

Caroline Myss is talking about becoming aware. That is the first step to Doing the Work.

Other spiritual teachers say the same thing in different ways. Mary Ellen Flora who created the Church of Divine Man teaches that we cannot create in another’s life. If we try to create in someone else’s life, they then have to learn to move us out of their energy field so they can create for themselves.

Abraham Hicks says it’s not helpful to try to change someone. “If they could change, they’d do it themselves.”

Having said all this, if you were to Do the Work, what commitment can you make to yourself?

I like using books and audios to guide me.   A few suggestions are these.

Chakra One – Creating and Maintaining Health!

May 9, 2018 by @candesscampbell

This morning as I was walking Angelo along the river I was listening to Caroline Myss’s Energy Anatomy Audio on my iPhone. She is one of my favorite teachers and I love her work.

As I manage my CFS, in addition to balancing my life, I am also journaling and understanding how I created this illness and how to heal and return to a life of health. I’ll share more about this after I share Caroline’s perspective.

Now from Caroline Myss –

Where does Chronic Fatigue Syndrome come from? Chronic Fatigue is an immune disorder. Your immune system is connected to your First chakra primary, so when you think of an immune disorder I want you to go into your first chakra and think your first chakra connects you to how safe you feel in the physical world, how able you are to protect yourself.

Your first chakra is like your mote around a castle. If you feel safe, if you feel able to handle yourself in a physical situation, your immune system is going to be fairly functional. What weakens your immune system is some version of a first chakra disorder. Either you’re going to feel very vulnerable socially, very vulnerable being able to take care of yourself economically, vulnerable within your family or you will be within another tribe, your work tribe.

[click_to_tweet tweet=”Often the profile of someone who gets chronic fatigue syndrome is someone who wants to be all things to all people. – Caroline Myss” quote=”Often the profile of someone who gets chronic fatigue syndrome is someone who wants to be all things to all people. – Caroline Myss”]

So what happens is they think they can do everything. They think they can be everywhere and they have this image that they are not allowed to rest or run out of energy and what’s really happening is that so much of their energy is going out of their circuits that they are connecting to more people and more projects that they can be energetically connected to.

And so their immune system begins to weaken, because they simply haven’t gotten enough energy to run their biology. They are financing people with their energy more than they can, or projects. They are too many places simultaneously.

If you imagine that every person or every thing you are connected to energetically represents a place where you are simultaneously and one day you said, where am I today and you followed your thoughts.  You thought part of me is wishing I was on the east coast, part of me is back in London, part of me is with my boyfriend, part of me is there, part of me is there. Part of me is in my childhood processing how come I didn’t get enough brownies, part of me is wondering have come I don’t have thick gorgeous hair. Part of me is here and part of me is there.

As humorous as this might sound, I’m telling you, you recognize that you are in as many places as your emotional energy takes you. Do you understand what I am saying? You are financing all of these places.

Remember what the truth of the Seventh Chakra is Be Here Now.

Live in the present moment.

The way Caroline explains your energy system is amazing.

When you find that you are “financing” too many people and projects you’re your energy necessary to run your own energetic system, I hope this will remind you to receive, rest and give yourself permission to just BE!

If you want to join me in exploring health related to the chakras, I have Soul Stems relating to each chakra and a health section in my book Live Intuitively: Journal the Wisdom of your Soul.

The Dilettante (Amateur) Archetype

December 30, 2016 by @candesscampbell

Enjoy a guest blog from Cheyenne Mendel, Goddess extraordinaire!

“From a Latin root meaning “to delight in,” the Dilettante is a lover of the fine arts who never rises above the level of an amateur, and to whom the phrase “jack of all trades, master of none” applies. Although the word has the negative connotation of a dabbler who seeks only a cursory knowledge or experience, it never completely loses the sense of delighting in the arts. The Amateur, from the Latin root for “love,” has many of the same qualities of the Dilettante applied to the realm of sports or applied arts such as cooking and gardening. In many cases it’s better to be an inspired amateur than a grind-it-out professional. Like the survival archetypes, the Dilettante or Amateur can alert you when you are in danger of becoming merely superficial in your pursuits, or losing the love that drew you to your avocation in the first place. The shadow Dilettante manifests as a pretension to much deeper knowledge than you actually possess.” – Caroline Myss

If you have not blessed yourself with any of Caroline Myss’s books or teachings I highly recommend it. They are life changing.

“VENICE” by Rowan Lyford

I realize now the archetype of the Dilettante came to me early 2016 when I went into the local artisans gallery in Crestone, Colorado. I saw this painting entitled “VENICE” and was immediately smitten. I love art but I have never considered myself an artist of any kind.

I could not get the painting out of my mind and would walk by to make sure it was still there. I realized I had to secure it for myself and plopped $700 down on it. I had never really purchased a painting let alone spend that kind of money.

I discovered it was painted by a 17-year-old girl named Rowan. I was amazed by how much it inspired me and it also turned out to be a feng shui cure to help sell my business.

In 2016 I took up piano lessons. I had them in the 2nd and 3rd grade but during the times I was supposed to be practicing, bad things were happening to me at home. I had “collapsed” (a Landmark Education term) the abuse with playing the piano. I never touched the piano again for decades.

Cheyenne Mendel playing the piano in her home in Saguache, Colorado.

I myself have been and acupuncturist for 26 years. I have had the privilege of treating over 30,000 sessions and chances are for years and years I have spent most of my days standing with people and working on them. Like me, there are many other specialist in fields that require tons of education like physicians for example, who have not explored the Dilettante simply for lack of time.

I would say anyone who spends 10,000 hours let alone 30,000 would be an expert in that field. I am not used to being an amateur. Crawling when I am used to running doesn’t feel great. Ego crushing at times!

The benefits of artistic expression are numerous and undeniable when practiced. Being able to do something for the sheer joy of it is inspirational and miraculous.

Another bucket list item for me was dance. Just this month, I enrolled in a studio for a 6 week two-step country swing class and it has been pure pleasure. For me the best part is “being led”. I have to lead in so many other areas of my life. To be able to let go and flit around the dance floor to honkey tonk music has been a blast.

In the Dec 2016/ Jan 2017 Reader’s Digest article, Kurt Vonnegut writes, ‘What I have to say to you, moreover will not take long, to wit: Practice any art – music, singing, dancing, acting, drawing, painting, sculpting, poetry, fiction, essays, reportage – no matter how well or badly, not to get money or fame, but to experience becoming, to find out what is inside of you, to make your soul grow.”

He goes on to say “Write a poem and make it the best you possible can. Don’t tell anyone what you are doing. Don’t share it with anyone. Tear it into tiny pieces and discard them widely in different receptacles.”

The Dilettante experiences art for the joy of it. The huge popularity of the show THE VOICE speaks to how much the population is thirsty for pure inspiration and joy in artistry.

The artist Prince died April 21, 2016. I cried for three weeks and then again even months later. Why? I never understood the crying I saw around me when Elvis died. I was 9 years old. All these people did not know Elvis. I now understand. I did not know Prince personally nor did I ever attend one of the famous Paisley Park pop up concerts, but the love and artistry and high frequency and how he conducted his life, left a big impression in my heart. Every time someone we know or someone who touches us dies, we take inventory of our life and the meaning of it and what brings meaning to it.

So if the Dilettante is knocking I recommend letting him or her in. The water is very fine.

“You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching, Love like you’ll never be hurt, Sing like there’s nobody listening, and live like it’s heaven on earth.”   –   William W. Purkey

The Prostitute Archetype

July 14, 2016 by @candesscampbell

The function of prayer is not to influence God,

but rather to change the nature of the one who prays.

Søren Kierkegaard

Keeping with the 4 main Archetypes that we all share, the child, victim, prostitute and saboteur, today I will explore the Prostitute Archetype.  This information comes from class notes  from Caroline Myss and Norm Shealy’s  workshop on Medical Intuition and Myss’s book Sacred Contracts.  I also add information gained from my counseling, coaching and intuitive practice, and of course, my own life.

What I love about the Prostitute Archetype is that it is truly about Faith. When you are in survival mode, when you believe you will lose all that you have or not get what you truly believe you need in order to survive, the choice is either to compromise your integrity or have faith.

India 2010 046Some of you may know I have struggled a lot with loss.  First was my near death experience (NDE) when I was 14 years old. The second main challenge was when I had a house fire and lost everything (material).  I was at work and my two daughters were home. My daughter called me and said “Mom, the house is on fire!” I told her to get her sister and get out. I was terrified and prayed all the way home. First I saw the ambulance, then my dad and then my children. When I looked at my home burning, I saw an image of Jesus’s hand reaching down into the ashes and bringing out Life! At that time I knew all was well.

Later, there was emotional and material loss after a divorce. I became depressed and could not work for a while. Many of my belongings were destroyed in a leaking barn in the transition.  Having moved and not having a job at the time, I didn’t have money to pay rent at my apartment. I prayed and told God that if it were his will that I’d be a bag lady on the street, then so be it. I would minister on the street. Although I was ready to give up everything to do God’s will, I did hold out for a request for warm socks. What happened instead was my life changed. I went into private practice and was gifted with abundance beyond what I had imagined.

Kyoto- If I can lift the rock my wish comes true!

Kyoto- If I can lift the rock my wish comes true!

In all of these cases, when there was loss, the answer was Faith and the way for me to Faith was and is surrender. Now, this was my response to what had happened. Today when I pray, I usually pray for others and in gratitude for all I have.

The following are pearls, especially if you are one who contemplates, meditates and journals! Enjoy!!!

Prostitute Archetype – The Guardian of Faith

The core issue is how much you are willing to sell your morals, integrity, intellect, word, body, soul for the sake of physical security

  • Engages lessons in integrity and the sale or negotiation of one’s integrity or Spirit due to fears of physical and financial survival for financial gain.

  • Activates the aspects of the unconscious that are related to seduction and control, whereby you are as capable of buying a controlling interest in another person as you are in selling your own power.

  • Selling your talents, ideas, and any other expression of the self or “selling out” your talents, ideas and other expressions of self.

  • Comes into play most clearly when our survival is threatened.

  • Dramatically embodies and tests the power of faith; with faith no one can buy you, you know you can take care of yourself and the Divine is looking out for you – without faith, you will eventually meet the price you cannot turn down.

  • Majority of prostitutes are in bad marriages or in miserable jobs; their inability to move out of toxic environments is totally tied to economics.

  • Who or what is trying to buy, use or contaminate you?  As Jesus with Satan, every time you take a step on your path of personal empowerment, you will meet someone who will want to buy a piece of your soul, rendering you less powerful and themselves more powerful.

  • Shadow side is taking shortcuts such as buying or sharing power, i.e. “I am a friend of a friend of famous person.”

  • One stays in relationships that by name gives them power long after the relationship has gone cold.

  • Confronting the prostitute transforms it into the guardian that watches over your relationship to faith.

  • The prostitute is your ally that alerts you when you shift from the Divine to the physical.

  • Whenever you are in a faith crisis, list your thoughts and fears, especially the ones that are trying to talk you into compromising yourself.

  • Be aware of the prostitute when it appears you could order your life if you had the money, when you stay in relationships so you don’t have to be alone and when you think of doing something unethical or illegal “for the good of the company, family, etc.”

  • Prostitute relationships are the most painful because they involve survival and are often terrifying and humiliating.

  • Do you think before you say your opinion “What will this cost me in terms of popularity or gain?”

  • The prostitute can awaken you to “take up your bed and walk.”  Once you get away from a circumstance that costs you too much money, energy, dignity or time, lasting transformation is possible.

  • Shadow prostitute will urge you to sell out your integrity and your vision of true independence at the first opportunity.

The Victim Archetype

June 17, 2016 by @candesscampbell

In the last blog I gave you  some information about the Saboteur Archetype and encouraged you to use the information to explore within yourself in the privacy of your journal. Today, I am focusing on the Victim Archetype.  This information comes from information from Caroline Myss’ work in her Sacred Contracts book and the classes I took from her on Medical Intuition and Sacred Contracts. I have also added information that I have gained from working as a mental health counselor and chemical dependency professional for over 20 years.

Remember that we all have 4 archetypes that we share. These are the Child, Victim, Saboteur and Prostitute.  Each of these archetypes have a positive side to them and with the Victim it is Self-Esteem. This would be the other side of the victim.

In the process of your journey and self-healing, you have to come to terms with your victim self and move beyond this state of being. You can identify your victim, confront the behavior, love and forgive yourself and bring your energy into present time. In fact, unless you can bring at least 80% of your energy into present time, you will not have the power to self-heal. What do I mean by bringing yourself into present time? Watch your thoughts. Do you go off to the future (which can create anxiety) or drift off to the past (which can cause depression) or are you able to be present in the moment?

If you journal, this will give you a great opportunity to explore your inner life journaling from these characteristics. You may want to use my book Live Intuitively: Journal the Wisdom of your Soul when you explore deeper. You can use the Soul Stems, which are writing prompts to take you deeper into your Self!

Victim Archetype

Guardian of Self Esteem

Core issue is whether it is worth giving up your own sense of empowerment to avoid taking responsibility for your independence.

  • When you don’t stand up for yourself after awhile you no longer can tell the difference whether you are being victimized or not; so either you are being victimized and don’t know it or you are not being victimized, but act as if you are.
  • The victim archetype helps you decide what you will or will not do; a guardian of personal boundaries.
  • Lessons associated with the victim archetype demand that you evaluate your relationship to power, especially with people with whom you have control issues and have to set boundaries.
  • Primary objective is to develop self-esteem and personal power.
  • You have contracts with people whose primary purpose is to help you develop yourself-esteem through acts of honesty, integrity, courage, endurance and self-respect.
  • The victim will entice you to feel sorry for yourself.
  • You can act like a victim and give in or call upon your companions and guides for help.
  • Like the lion in the Wizard of Oz, you need to have the courage to look at your victim and make it your ally.
  • Do you victimize yourself in the way you interpret conversations with other people?
  • Does your victim alert you to protect yourself rather than letting people take advantage of you?
  • Does your victim motivate you to be shrewd in the dealings of whatever house it is in?
  • Does your empowered victim allow you to take risks in your life?
  • The victim urges us to act appropriately when we are in danger of being victimized.
  • The victim can alert us to being victimized through passivity and rash or inappropriate actions.
  • It can also alert us to how we victimize others for personal gain.
  • In shadow it may show how we play victim for sympathy or pity.
Here is the Soul Stem Process and a few Soul Stems to work with.

The relationship that controls me the most is . . .

If I were empowered I would . . .

I need to stop focusing upon . . .

If I could, I would . . .

The Saboteur Archetype

June 2, 2016 by @candesscampbell

There is a situation in my life that may be an opportunity manifested. When manifesting though, as soon as you identify what you want or see the manifestation ahead, doubt sets in and you begin to undo that which you have been working on creating! This is what is happening for me, so I decided to revisit The Saboteur Archetype and explore what is happening at a deeper level.

I took a class from Caroline many years ago on Sacred Contracts and then taught from her book of the same name. From the information I gained from her and some of my own experiences, I came up with a list of characteristics of these archetypes. Myss explains how each of these four archetypes are like legs of a table in which we build our life. Here is some information about the Saboteur Archetype which Myss refers to as the Guardian of Choice.

If you journal, this will give you a great opportunity to explore your inner life journaling from these characteristics. You may want to use my book Live Intuitively: Journal the Wisdom of your Soul when you explore deeper. You can use the Soul Stems, which are writing prompts to take you deeper into your Self!

Core issue of Saboteur is fear of inviting changes into your life; changes that shape and deepen your spirit

  • Other side of destruction is rebuilding and rebirth
  • Use saboteur to consciously dismantle areas of your life you need to fix or heal
  • Makes itself known through disruption and resistance
  • Is the mirror that reflects your fears of taking responsibility for yourself and what you create
  • You can silence the saboteur with acts of courage and following your intuition
  • Listen to the small voice and make choices – small ones to begin with
  • Shadow saboteur will play on your fears that you are not good enough to accomplish anything on your own
  • We are afraid that if we are enlightened we will be alone, wont’ be vulnerable, capable of sensual love, so we feed the shadow saboteur, the part of use that is fragmented
  • We fear empowerment because we think it will remove us from the warmth and comfort of loved ones
  • We fear empowerment because we don’t want to be responsible for our actions and therefore consciously or unconsciously encourage our weakness and hold onto our fears; we do want to be around others that are empowered or enlightened though
  • Do you sabotage your personal growth for a little comfort or does your inner saboteur alert you to stay on the Yellow Brick Road
  • Work with your saboteur to see where you may be doing yourself in (what are you doing you know you should not be doing and what you are not doing that you know you should be doing?
  • Have you blown an opportunity to follow a dream?
  • Saboteur is made up of the fears and issues related to low self esteem that cause you to make choices in your life that block your own empowerment and success
  • When you make the saboteur your ally it can call your attention to ways you might be sabotaged or sabotage yourself and then you can make other choices The intellect of the scarecrow can work with your saboteur to alert you to when you are doing yourself in
Here is the Soul Stem Process and a few Soul Stems to work with.

What scares me the most about (the manifestation) is . . .

If I walk away from this opportunity then . . .

The opportunity I regret not taking is . . .

When I say YES to this experience, I will  . . .

Enjoy the process of deepening your relationship with yourSelf!

I am available for a psychic readings if you want some clarity and energy clearing.
