Slow Down, Relax and Enjoy!

December 21, 2016 by @candesscampbell

With all the bright lights, vivid colors and melodious sounds of the holiday season, it can be easy to become robotic just trying to get things done. The holiday season is so full of textures and smells, it is a great time to pull away from your family and take some time for yourself to slow down, relax and enjoy.

With the frivolity of the holiday shopping and parties, one of my favorite ways to rest and connect with myself is through my journal. Whether I am making lists (and checking them twice), free writing to release stress, or doodling with my favorite colored pencils, it is the Sacred place where I connect with my deepest Self.

[clickToTweet tweet=”Ten minutes with your journal will renew your Spirit in the busy holiday season!” quote=”Ten minutes with your journal will renew your Spirit in the busy holiday season!“]

This is the time to review the past year and to anticipate the opportunities of the year ahead. Here are some Soul Stems to assist you in the process. You may want to look back at your journal at this time last year to see what you planned for this year.

My greatest accomplishment last year was . . .

What I started and plan to finish is . . .

 I have forgiven . . .

What excites me about the coming year is . . .

 I am grateful for . . .

The one word that will guide me in the coming year is . . .

Each year rather than making a list of resolutions, I find I do better with choosing one word to focus upon for the year. Last year I chose Allow. To become more conscious I became aware of my resistance to situations and people and eased into allowing instead. This created a lot of self-awareness and was a great experience. I haven’t settled on a word yet this year, but will use the Soul Stem “The one word that will guide me in the coming year is . . .”  a few times to become clear.

Here are some other Soul Stems to play with over the holiday season from my book Live Intuitively: Journal the Wisdom of your Soul.

Wishing you and your family

Merry Christmas

Happy Hanukkah

Happy Solstice

and Joy in whatever your Faith.

An Unexpected Delight in Mumbai

December 9, 2016 by @candesscampbell

A sickly body does not indicate that a guru is not in touch with divine powers,

any more than lifelong health necessarily indicates an inner illumination.

– Paramhansa Yogananda – Autobiography of a Yogi

This holiday season I want to share a story from one of my trips to India that was enlightening and opened my heart.

The first few days of my trip to India were about teaching me to listen to my intuition. One of the experiences where I didn’t listen to this gentle inner voice was at the train station in Mumbai. On the platform a young crippled man came up to me. He was scooting himself with his hands across the dirty cement of the station. His feet were twisted and as he sat his legs curled up toward his chin. I reached into my purse and gave him some coins. My intuition said to give him 500 rupees, but I was aware my travel mates would say no and so I didn’t. When I gave him the rupees, his eyes and mine met and there was an incredible Light in his eyes. I felt like I had touched a power source and electricity ran through me. A few minutes later he crossed my path again and our eyes met, we smiled, connected and waved.

[clickToTweet tweet=”What you see is a reflection of your inner being!” quote=”What you see is a reflection of your inner being!”]

As I write this, days later, my eyes are tearing. When I went to our train compartment I shared my experience with my Indian friend. He said “this is the first of many you will meet. That is why you were so touched.” I explained to him that I agreed I would meet many, but that this one is different. My intuitive self knew he was an Enlightened Being. My friend asked then why would this man have that kind of body?

I entered trance and began to share the information I received. I understood we are not our body. This physically crippled man has transcended his body. The reason he took on this body is that he came to the earth, this incarnation to be a Light and to mirror to others. Everyone who looks at him will see him differently. I saw an Enlightened Being. Another person may experience anger, sadness, judgment or joy. He mirrored to us what we needed to see in ourselves at that time. I needed to see an Enlightened Being in a form that I did not expect. Another time I may experience him differently.

If this experience was all that happened to me spiritually on this trip to India, it would have been enough. This incredible Being gave me a healing I will remember forever.

As the trip continued I realized an important theme of this trip is we are all connected and we gift each other. In this case, I gave him rupees and I saw who he was. He gave me some kind of spiritual activation and awareness of myself, an understanding of what my life is about at this moment.

I hope that we can look at others in our lives and experience the healing of being mirrored by others during this sacred season.

Blessings to you and your families during this Sacred Season!

December Astrological Forecast

“How did it get so late so soon?”

― Dr. Seuss

holiday

Provided by Lee of http://www.stillwatersastro.com

December 4th: Mars enters Aquarius.  The planet of action places its emphasis in the social  sign of Aquarius spicing up the holiday season within 3 weeks of  Hanukkah and Christmas. A harmonious “trine” aspect between Venus in Sagittarius and Jupiter in Leo also brings a spark of levity to lift the holiday spirits.

December 8th: Jupiter stations retrograde in Leo at 23 degrees.  Expansive Jupiter steps back after five months of direct motion in the regal sign of Leo. Jupiter will station direct in Leo in April 2015.

December 6th: Full Moon in Gemini/Sagittarius at 14 degrees. The final Full Moon of 2014 closely opposes Mercury in Sagittarius and squares Chiron in Pisces which is likely to create stress and tension in communications for a brief period.

December 10th: Venus enters Capricorn. Transiting Venus prepares the Cardinal soil of Capricorn for the arrival of a unique initiatory Winter Solstice on December 21st highlighted by the New Moon in Capricorn within a fraction of the 1st degree of Capricorn preceded by Uranus’ direct station within just 20 minutes of the Solstice.

December 15th: Uranus in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn at 12 deg 35 min. The continuing trials of the titans Uranus and Pluto meet once again for yet another transformational “square” aspect for the first time since last April’s Cardinal Grand Cross. Be prepared for more even more initiatory shifts in the weeks ahead.

December 21st: Winter Solstice/ New Moon in Capricorn & Uranus stations direct. The Winter Season officially begins as the Sun arrives in the sign of Capricorn at 3:03 pm PST. The Moon conjoins the Sun at 5:26 pm PST signifying new beginnings for those with chart angles or planets in the first 5 degrees of the sign of Capricorn.

December 23rd:  Saturn enters Sagittarius at 8:33 am PST.  Authoritarian Saturn completes 26 consecutive months in Scorpio to arrive in the intrepid fire sign of Sagittarius contributing to a noticeable collective shift from mid December 2014 through February 2015.

Give a Kindle for Christmas!

December 21, 2011 by @candesscampbell

*** *** ***
This year for Christmas I bought myself an Inversion table. Not that I have Bat Medicine, but I have dreamed of hanging upside down for years now. The thought of my spine gently stretching is, well, you know.

If I didn’t have a Kindle though, I would have bought myself a Kindle. Not the new Fire Kindle that is advertised, but like the one I now have, the Kindle. The Kindle Touch would be nice. I’m not sure about the Kindle Keyboard; would have to see it first.  I like that the screen does not have back lighting and is easy on the eyes. It doesn’t feel like working on the computer! I did buy a cover with a light and that works fine for me.
Who would love a Kindle?

  •   Someone like myself who doesn’t like to be the passenger in a car. In my case, specifically last year when in an auto-rickshaw where we were battling cars, motorcycles, bicycles, rickshaws, cows and buses in the streets of Kolkata.  The Kindle was a perfect place to hide my face, even in the dark because I turned the light on!
  •   A loved one who generally has five to seven books either by the bedside or the table near the sofa. It is really nice to switch from a novel to a self-help book to an inspirational book and back again. Then if I have a class I have to study for I can read some of the text, break with a chapter in my novel and back again.
  •   Travelers are great prospects for the Kindle. I have a friend who just left for Guatemala to live on her sailboat for a month. She suspected her sisters would buy her a Kindle for Christmas. I hope they did. Being an avid reader, lugging a suitcase of books across the ocean is not only heavy, but expensive.
  •   Someone who has to share a lap with pets and often has a hard time holding a heavy book when reading until early hours of the morning.
  •   The person who has been hinting would be a great candidate for a Kindle. Now, although I like the one I have, listen to see if they hint for the Fire or not. It’s best to give them what they want.

I remember many years ago when I first became aware of Amazon, I called my brother (not a reader, but an investor) and said to him, “I don’t know much about stocks, but if I bought anything, I’d buy this.”

Amazon has continued to amaze me and I love the Kindle! Hey, I’ll even have an e-book to blog about in the next couple months.

Another reason for you to buy a Kindle.

Have a happy and playful holiday!

Read on!
