“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
― Martin Luther King Jr., A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches
Today is a great opportunity, not only to remember Martin Luther King, Jr., but to activate in your life today, and forward, the very characteristics that made him a great leader.
In your own life and business, how can the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. be a guide for you?
Dream
One characteristic comes from his famous speech “I Have a Dream.”
What is your dream for the world? With all the resources and cooperation you need, what changes would you make?
Envision the world you want to live in and the world you want to share with those you love.
What is your dream for your own life?
Leadership
Martin Luther King, Jr. fought for equality when others would not. His life was one of education, service and leadership. He was involved in several groups and committees and learned to support and be supported in his endeavors in the civil rights movement.
How have you prepared yourself educationally to attain the goals you desire?
What services have you provided to help your community, a group or an individual? What services have you given to support your business?
How have you served in a leadership position and where have you found support for your causes?
Persistence
Seemingly, taking a stand for Civil Rights alone, Martin Luther King, Jr. did not quit. Even while incarcerated he continued to work on his dream. He didn’t give up under the most difficult circumstances.
What are the hurdles you have to overcome to create your dream?
Today, what do you need to overcome to finish your project, take the next step or regain your focus?
What is the end result for your persistence? What is the planned goal and what will be your reward?

“A good well rounded Education” is among the top most critical elements in the formation of a child’s character and direction in life! When he or she has a good education the door to the world opens before their very eyes! For so long many of us have been denied a good education and we can see and feel the results! It is by design! What must be done is that “family” must recognize we are responsible for our children’s success or failure in the long run! Yes, it is true that sometimes we give our children every advantage we did not have! And, they still waste these opportunities! This is just way it is sometimes! “But, we must not stop here!” We must continue inspiring and encouraging our young people to seek higher heights and deeper depths! If you never had an opportunity, you don’t know what opportunity is! And, naturally you cannot give something you don’t have! But, those of us who know what opportunity is and what it can produce must use this “gift” to be a Blessing to our young people! Dr King is a Educated man! A Man Of God! And, A Man Of Great Spiritual and Natural Vision who gave his Life for us just as Jesus Christ gave His Life for us! We must do better than we are doing! Our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s futures are at stake! The world will be less fortunate without the contributions of “all” of our children! Take good care of that which God has given you and me, on loan! “A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Waste!” God Bless You! Jesus Christ Loves All Of Us So Very Much! And, so do I!

So true John. I also understand travel as a part of education. When we only create understanding from what is around us, we miss out on so much! I went from moping floors to putting myself through school and getting a doctorate and I am so grateful that my grandmother planted the seed when I was young. We need to be present to our children and learn from them and guide them to become educated.
