You have power over your mind – not outside events.
Realize this, and you will find strength.
Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
Being healthy, feeling peaceful and calm, and manifesting abundance are all related to being grounded and centered in your life. As an intuitive reader what I see the most in clients, is they are not grounded and not in present time.
It’s helpful for the body to have a sense of feeling grounded. You can do this by closing your eyes, taking a deep breath and imagining a grounding cord coming from the base of your spine below the tailbone. This grounding cord can be like a waterfall, a beam of light or a tree trunk. The grounding cord goes down through the chair, floor, and down into the fiery center of Mother Earth.
Your body feels safe when you are grounded. You can release energy, tension, fear, and anxiety down the grounding cord which helps to prevent stress and in turn may prevent illness. Grounding is a self- healing tool. You and more able to manifest when your are grounded and in present time.

(It’s fun for me to watch this video and see Mattie Grace who we lost a few years ago. I want to re-film this practice because I think I look better with age. We also lost Domingo, but have been adopted by a Russian Blue named Princess Gray!
Lorii Abela says
This is a great practice. It indeed takes discipline as the more the world becomes modernize, the time for grounding becomes a challenge. However, the more one practices meditation and spirituality, the more one can have a leverage in fulfilling the responsibilities in other areas of one’s life.

That is so true Lorii. I really notice I am not longer reactive to situations. There is a part of the 12 Minute Energy Clearing Meditation that teaches looking out from the center of your head, a place of neutrality and amusement. I love being neutral and not being controlled by other people’s thoughts and behaviors.

I have not even considered this, I’m shocked at myself!
Oh…. and your cat made me giggle 😊

Thank you for this reminder in a time when I’m feeling out of sorts due to the election. Taking the time to pray, be thankful, and release things to God helped.

One of my life challenges is staying on the ground and feeling fully incarnated in my body. Being an air sign, with many planets in air, my tendency is to fly out and hover just slightly above the earth, although I’ve done a lot of work to be in my body and to stay there. Thanks for sharing this grounding exercise Candess, especially at this very unsettled time in our world.
Tamuria says
I love the visualization of the grounding cord – just thinking about it gives me a sense of calm.

Mom! Pay attention to me! Sorry for your loss; I have owned (or been owned by) several Russian Blues and they are terrific companions. Re grounding: Yes. As an earth sign (Taurus), I deeply feel my connection to the earth and enjoy being present mostly when I’m outside enjoying nature.

Alene Geed says
I knew about this discipline but have not practiced it in some time. Will make it a priority. I do a 15 minute meditation normally. Feeling grounded sure helps when I get in a situation where others are not. It helps me weather those storms so to speak

I”ll have to come back to this post for the meditation. I always find, if my life is starting to get a little crazy and I’m feeling stressed, after a few days of getting back to morning meditations & affirmations things start to turn around. Our inner peace and connection to the energies around us has such a huge impact on our day to day lives.
Rachel Lavern says
Although I do meditate in some form daily, I have found praying to God to be the most effective way to stay grounded. I also love to walk barefoot in my backyard or at a park.
Jennifer Quisenberry says
I feel like I stay pretty well grounded, but I am a triple Capricorn. But sometimes, I can get knocked off center – like the stress I’ve felt over the election. It’s really been upsetting and doesn’t quite feel real. Perhaps I need to reconnect.
candesscampbell says
I understand Jennifer. Meditation has helped me to get through this upset! Let’s open our hearts and be kind to everyone we meet as a way to balance the energy.

Candess,
Great article on energy medicine. In college as a social worker I also took classes on energy medicine and tapping. I use this with some of my client’s and feel this is a very good way to integrate both clinical and energy.

I really enjoy teaching my spiritual clients tools that help them. Talk therapy is helpful for a time, but I think there is so much more out there! If you haven’t seen it yet Lori I bet you would love my book Live Intuitively: Journal the Wisdom of your Soul to use with your clients! There is a FB group for those who have the book too!
